Newspaper Tradition Ends In Columbus, Dispatch Sold

The century long tradition of Columbus having a local family owned newspaper will end.  The Columbus Dispatch will soon have new owners.  The Wolfe family will sell the paper and other print publications to a New York City investment firm.


After 110 years the Wolfe family plans to sell The Columbus Dispatch.

The Dispatch Printing Company announced this morning it has agreed to sell its print publications to the New Media Investment Group, based in New York City.

The owner of the Bob Evans restaurant chain is planning to sell its new Ohio headquarters just outside Columbus along with two manufacturing plants.

Bob Evans Farms Inc. says it will then lease back the properties and use the money from the sale for stock buybacks.

The Commerce Department says U.S. homebuilders ramped up construction in April to the fastest pace in seven-and-a-half years. An official with the Ohio Home Builders Association says that trend is occurring in parts of Ohio as well.

Jeni's Shops To Reopen Next Week

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream says it will reopen its scoop shops by May 22.

The popular Columbus-based ice cream company shut down April 23 after a pint of its ice cream tested positive for listeria.

Jeni's has since recalled and recycled more than 500,000 pounds of product at a cost of $2.5 million.

The company has also redesigned its production kitchen and is set to resume production this week.

The source of listeria was determined to be the spout of a machine that fills pints for retail sale.
