A new law banning abortions after 20 weeks' gestation has taken effect in Ohio as anti-abortion activists plan further efforts aimed at curbing abortion access in the state.

The abortion rate in the United States fell to its lowest level since the historic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalized abortion nationwide, a new report finds.

That's the lowest recorded rate since the Roe decision in 1973. The abortion rate has been declining for decades — down from a peak of 29.3 in 1980 and 1981.

When it comes to women's and children's health in the state of Ohio, the diagnosis is not good.

The United Health Foundation recently released its 2016 Health of Women and Children rankings, and Ohio fell closer to the bottom than the top.  Ohio ranked 33rd among states.
