Ohio State University president Michael Drake gave his annual state of the university speech on Thursday. While emphasizing the school's accomplishments, Drake acknowledged some of the scandals that rocked the university this year—including those of longtime doctor Richard Strauss and former head football coach Urban Meyer.

The investigation that led to a three-game suspension of Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer cost the university $1 million, twice the amount originally requested for it, the school said Thursday.

Urban Meyer Stepping Down

After a seven-year run as the head football coach at Ohio State, Urban Meyer will be stepping down after the team’s final game on January 1st.

Meyer cited health issues and his suspension earlier this year as reasons for his transition out of coaching.

Ohio State’s consolation prize for missing out on the College Football Playoff is a classic matchup in the Granddaddy of Them All.

The Big Ten champion Buckeyes (12-1) will face Pac-12 champ Washington (10-3) in the 105th edition of the Rose Bowl game.

The Ohio State Board of trustees last week listened to the testimonies of seven former students who accused former university physician Richard Strauss of sexual abuse.

While the victims detailed their frustrations with Ohio State over the university’s handling of the investigation, the meeting marked the first time the trustees heard directly from the victims in a public setting.

Beyond investigations, Ohio State continues serve students on campus. This Thanksgiving, Ohio State’s Office of International Affairs will host a meal for roughly 1,600 students.
