More people died in Ohio from an opioid overdose than any other state in the country in 2014, according to the latest national numbers from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

It’s a dilemma law enforcement, faith groups and other community leaders are all trying to get a grip on. They’re hoping sharing as many ideas as possible can be the first step in winning the fight against this epidemic.

The Kaiser Family Foundation says that in 2014, Ohio had the highest number of deaths from opiate overdoses in the U.S.

Unintentional overdoses leading to death due to heroin and opioids hit an all time high in 2014 and the issue continues to be called a state epidemic. In an effort to help the growing problem, Senator Rob Portman has helped push a bill through Congress that would give millions towards decreasing the high statistics of drug abuse and increasing treatment coverage.
