The nation watched a tight race in Ohio’s 12th congressional district Tuesday night. Republican candidate Troy Balderson is holding on to a narrow lead as provisional and final absentee ballots are counted.

Republican Troy Balderson has declared victory in the special election for Ohio’s 12th congressional district, with unofficial results showing a thin margin of victory in the normally solid-red territory.

Republican Troy Balderson held a narrow lead over Democrat Danny O'Connor in a hotly-contested Ohio special congressional election, with outstanding provisional and absentee ballots still to be counted.

Even if Balderson secures victory in the end, the result is sending the GOP warning signs for what's to come in November.
