The Cincinnati Zoo says it is progressing methodically as it re-integrates a gorilla that spent the last nearly 30 years in California.

The gorilla at the center of a heated court battle is making his first forays into his new habitat in Cincinnati.

The gorilla at the center of a dispute between the Cincinnati Zoo and the California-based The Gorilla Foundation is back in the Queen City. Ndume is a 37-year-old silverback. 

A federal judge in California is ruling a gorilla named "Ndume" should be returned to the Cincinnati Zoo no later than June 30.

A target date is set for when a gorilla named "Ndume" will be transferred back to the Cincinnati Zoo.
