Nearly one in 10 new mothers in the U.S. suffers from postpartum depression. 

Many keep those feelings of depression and sadness to themselves. But for some, the symptoms are so acute that they interfere with the mother’s  ability to care for her child, let alone herself.

Local Author on Motherhood book featured in national magazine

A local writer's book "The Middle of Everything" is a memoir of motherhood. Michelle Herman is an Associate Professor in the English Department at Ohio State. Herman, her thoughts on motherhood and her 13-year old daughter are featured in the current issue of "O", the Oprah Winfrey magazine. Herman told WOSU's Marilyn Smith earlier today, some aspects of motherhood caught her off guard.
