After months of mediation failed to produce a settlement, some of the men suing Ohio State University over decades-old sexual abuse are asking a judge to let their litigation resume.

Lawyers are resuming mediation toward a potential settlement in lawsuits against Ohio State by men who collectively allege two decades of sexual misconduct by a now-deceased team doctor.

Accusers of doctor Richard Strauss met with Ohio State University attorneys in Cincinnati this weekend to begin mediation over a pair of lawsuits against the school. An independent investigation revealed Richard Strauss abused at least 177 men, and a number of administrators at the time failed to adequately respond.

Youth Suicide And Peer-To-Peer Support

Youth suicide in the U.S. spiked nationwide after the 2017 release of “13 Reasons Why,” a Netflix series about a girl who takes her own life.

The study was led by researchers at Nationwide Children's Hospital, which found 195 more suicides than expected among youth ages 10 to 17 nine months after the show was released in March 2017.

A third season of the show is due this year.

And the study authors have recommended caution. 

We talk about how some school districts have turned to students themselves to take the lead in spotting the warning signs and guide their peers to help.
