Columbus City leaders have announced a planned senior housing "village" in the Hilltop.

Columbus' Safe Streets program began in the Linden neighborhood last year, and its success prompted expansion to the Parson’s corridor and the Hilltop. But the latest results are not as promising as the pilot.

Columbus Police say a teenager and a Hilltop resident were killed in a shooting in the west Columbus neighborhood on Monday.

At Stew's Barber Shop on Sullivant Avenue, Armando McKnight is giving a client a cut.

“Right now, I'm giving him a line-up,” McKnight says. “This is like detailing a car. The cut is done and now I'm just perfecting the edges.”

The City of Columbus wants to board up an apartment complex it has identified as a “one-stop shop” for drug trafficking.

A series of searches and undercover purchases by Columbus Police revealed heroin, crack cocaine and other drugs on the premises. Assistant City Attorney Kristen Dickerson said the city started receiving complaints about the complex, located at 596-602 South Hague Ave., in June.
