A Franklin County judge has ruled that Booker Moody is not competent to stand trial. Moody was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 19-year-old granddaughter.

Franklin County prosecutors on Wednesday announced 25 murder charges have been filed against Dr. William Husel, the former Mount Carmel intentisve care physician accused of ordering "excessive" doses of painkillers for patients who died shortly after receiving them. 

Wednesday marked the first meeting of a state panel charged with looking into the Ohio Medical Board's handling of sexual abuse complaints against longtime Ohio State University doctor Richard Strauss.

Masonique Saunders has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery in the case of Julius Ervin Tate, Jr., her boyfriend who was fatally shot by Columbus Police in December 2018.

Last month, a gunman killed 50 people and injured 50 others at a mosque and Islamic center in New Zealand. In response to that and other recent attacks, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a roundtable on how to protect houses of worship from domestic terrorism and hate crimes.

Federal prosecutors on Monday announced the indictment of Columbus Police Vice officer Andrew Mitchell, who authorities allege kidnapped victims under the guise of an arrest and forced them to exchange sex for their freedom.

Acting Columbus Police chief Tim Becker and Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien released a statement Thursday about the ongoing criminal investigation into fired Mount Carmel doctor William Husel.

The state says the now-closed Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow still owes tens of millions of dollars for students it didn’t have but was paid to educate. Last year, an audit of what was the state’s largest online charter school was turned over to the Franklin County Prosecutor and the federal government for possible criminal charges.
