State officials cleared gyms to reopen around Ohio on Tuesday. Many are still working out how to do so safely, but at least one facility in downtown Columbus already began welcoming members back.

Businesses in downtown Columbus and the Short North suddenly have a lot of sales to make up, with the cancellation of the Arnold Fitness Expo and the banning of most spectators from the affiliated Arnold Sports Festival.

Last December, I joined 500 souls for a walking tour of downtown Columbus churches, presented by our new friends at Columbus Landmarks. Along with the exercise, we enjoyed cookies, hot chocolate and tours of four magnificent churches, each presenting a brief concert highlighting their music programs.

Chris Kowalski has had a rough go of it lately.

The owner and operator of Jack's Downtown Diner lost his wife to cancer in 2015. He closed the diner later that year, and when he reopened in 2016, the normally-quaint Lynn Street was a full-blown construction site.

Many of Columbus’ original street names are generic—Town Street, State Street, etc. But as it turns out, there’s a story behind the naming of Downtown’s historic Mound Street.

Columbus Commons is five years old. The downtown development includes a six-acre park surrounded by residential and commercial space. It opened with high expectations, and we tried to find out if it’s lived up to the hype.

It's a late Christmas gift for people parking in downtown Columbus: The city says a glitch rendered downtown parking meters inoperable, so parking enforcement officers are making all downtown metered parking spots free for the day.

The revitalization of downtown Columbus has moved south in recent years.  A new courthouse, park and apartment buildings have filled vacant lots along High Street, south of the statehouse.  The plan is for a mix of residential, office and retail, but as WOSU reports, retail lags behind.
