A former Franklin Township police office has been sentenced to a year in prison for excessive force, stemming from a 2018 incident in which he kicked a subdued suspect in the head.

The Columbus City Attorney and U.S. Attorney announced three indictments Tuesday as part of a new effort to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.

A federal grand jury indicted former Columbus Police officer Andrew Mitchell on two additional charges Thursday.

A federal grand jury in Cincinnati has indicted an Ohio man who pretended to be a missing Illinois boy. Brian Michael Rini, 23, is charged with making false statement to federal agents and aggravated identity theft.
