Herrera died at the age of 61 this weekend, after spending more than 30 years championing Latino/a causes in the Columbus area.

There will be no marching.

There will be no school walkouts.

Only a day of reflection and service and, perhaps most consequential, a time to grieve.

In response, the "#TakeTheKnee" protests expanded into a movement, putting a spotlight on the influence of athletes and their organizations in the national discourse on race, equality, and patriotism.
