The deadline to register to vote in Ohio is Tuesday, October 9th. With the midterm elections less than a month away, political parties are vying to energize their base and get them to the polls.  Several key races in Ohio, such as governor and the 12th district U.S. representative, are predicted to be close, making voter turnout that much more important.  Coming up, how political parties are getting out the vote and what’s keeping people from the polls.

Former President Barack Obama campaigned for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Richard Cordray.

Cordray served in the Obama administration as the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

During his speech, Obama took shots at Republican leaders in Washington D.C., calling the nation's political system broken. 

“The Republicans won the House, they won the Senate. They’re still mad,” he said. “Which is interesting. So just remember when you hear about these folks bragging about this economic period, just remember when it started.”

Ahead of the midterm elections, Facebook and other social media platforms are cracking down on fraudulent users and groups that could be part of election meddling.

President Trump has condemned the suspected chemical weapons attack that killed several people in Syria, calling it a "barbaric act." He has said that he will make a decision about a potential military response within the next two days. Russia and Syria have denied any responsibility for the attack.
