You Can Now Pay For COTA With A Mobile App

Oct 3, 2019

People riding Central Ohio Transit Authority buses can now pay without cash, thanks to the launch of a new mobile payment option called "Connector."

Customers can set up accounts to electronically transfer money from their bank or credit cards and board buses using the app or a "smart card."

"We believe this first iteration of digital payment will draw new customers to COTA, specifically thsoe who have held back from riding public transportation because they want the convenience of cash-free payment," says COTA president Joanna Pinkerton in a press release.

Smart cards can be ordered at, or picked up at the authority's temporary sales offices at 25 E. Rich Street.

COTA suggests daily and regular riders already using passes should continue to do so for the best fares.

In a press release, COTA says its goal is "to establish the national standard for transit systems using mobile app and cashless payments."
