In this week's episode:
Leader Of The Pack
Last week, the Ohio House Republicans voted to re-elect state Rep. Ryan Smith (R-Bidwell) as House Speaker over challenger Rep. Larry Householder (R-Glenford). The fight doesn't end there, however, as the full House votes on Monday. The rift between Republicans also mean that Ohio Democrats have found themselves with a modicum of power.
The big voter turnout in November means that the bar for getting statewide issues on the ballot has been raised.
John Kasich GPS
Our governor's days in office are numbered and he's still considering his next move. If Gov. John Kasich is contemplating a run for president, he might have some competition from another former governor. Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts and recently elected Senator from Utah, appears to be laying his own foundation for a potential run.
Snollygoster Of The Week
The Ohio legislature voted to override Kasich’s veto on a bill that increased death benefits for the families of first responders, but also hiked wages for lawmakers and other elected officials. Whether or not the lawmakers deserved a raise, critics have called it a particularly sneaky move.
