Remembering Poindexter Village

Aug 5, 2016

Columbus’ Poindexter Village was dedicated as a public housing development in 1940 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It aimed to give African Americans affordable living and later, became known as a beloved, thriving community for many years. Today, only two buildings remain of the original development, but Poindexter is being remembered as it once was, with a new exhibit by the Columbus Historical Society called Poindexter Village: A Portrait in Stories.
