A drug trafficking bust in Marion County led to 43 arrests on Wednesday morning.

More than 200 local, state and federal law enforcement agents took part in what's being called "Operation Pork Chop Express" in Marion County this morning, executing 36 federal arrest warrants and one local arrest warrant. Nine people named in the indictment were already in state custody and two were in federal custody on other charges.

Special Agent Eric Smith runs the Cleveland Division of the FBI. He says the drug traffickers have been importing, processing and distributing large amounts of heroin, fentanyl and other drugs since 2015.

“So far in the investigation, we have seized approximately 175 grams of heroin, 184 grams of fentanyl, 120 grams of marijuana and 40 grams of cocaine, $42,000 in cash and 10 firearms,” Smith says.

Drugs were distributed in Marion, Columbus, Chicago and Detroit. Arrests related to this operation have also been made in Detroit and Chicago, and there are still suspects at large.
