Columbus School Board Selects James Ragland To Fill Vacant Seat

Nov 21, 2018

The president of Ragland Enterprises, a consulting firm working with minority-owned businesses, will be sworn in today to the Columbus School Board.

In the past, James Ragland has run for Columbus mayor, and he was a finalist to fill a City Council vacancy last year. That seat eventually went to Emmanuel Remy.

The school board seat originally opened up when Dominic Paretti resigned after a sexual harassment scandal. The board received more applications for the vacancy than members thought they could reasonably review, so they tapped former a member to serve on a temporary basis.

Ragland was selected unanimously from a pool of three finalists.
