Backers of charter schools are starting a statewide campaign to pressure Ohio's lawmakers into giving the non traditional schools more money in Ohio's budget. The first salvo is a full page newspaper ad and radio ads that will be aired on stations across the state. Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles reports.

A new report shows the vast majority of Ohio's for profit charter schools are not accountable to the communities they serve and the students in those schools do not perform academically as well as their counterparts in public schools. But advocates for charter schools are taking issue with the report. Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles has both sides of the story.

Governor Strickland's new budget would give Ohio's public elementary, middle and high schools and additional $900 million over the next two years.
