The ongoing federal investigation into former House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger raises questions about travel activities of lawmakers. Rosenberger has close ties with payday lending lobbyists who allegedly paid for some of his travel.

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is adding pieces of railway history to its collection.

The nonprofit is purchasing four railcars, including two dining railcars from the famous Amtrak California Zephyr line, which are complete with observation domes on top.

CEO Joe Mazur said the two cars will bring a new experience to the scenic tour through Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

For the last 18 years, Curtis Stitt has helped lead the Central Ohio Transit Authority in adapting to new technologies and a changing city. But Friday marks his retirement from the organization.

The first time Jake Freed rode a skateboard long-distance, it was because he ran out of gas.

He was stuck outside of Yuma, Ariz., in the middle of summer. Without any other options, the military veteran pulled out his skateboard and road 11 miles into town.

"I was surprised how quick I got there and how effortless it was," the 34-year-old former aviation mechanic tells NPR. "I got a new light in me and started to wonder how far I could really go."

The big three U.S. airlines — American, Delta and United — are all taking on the discount carriers by offering no-frills, discounted fares, called "basic economy." Some critics call it "misery class" because you'll board last, sit in a middle seat near the back of the plane, and on United and American, you can't bring a carry-on bag.

Now there is evidence that this lower class of fare is not any lower priced, but instead is a way to raise standard economy fares.
