Columbus Council To Study Business Opportunities In Hilltop Area

Feb 26, 2018

The Columbus City Council approved a market feasibility study in the Hilltop at Monday night's meeting.

The city will spend $55,000 on the “Hilltop Retail Market Analysis and Small Business Opportunity Study," which is intended to provide analytics to grow the West Side neighborhood’s commercial corridor.

“The Hilltop Business Association wanted something that they could take to other businesses, point out and say ‘this is the spending dollars we have here,’” said Council president pro tem Michael Stinziano. “We want to see those dollars remain here and not go to the other side of town.”

Stinziano says the effort is community-driven.

“It’s an amazing corridor with a lot of historic success, and knowing there’s opportunity there given the amount of residents and individuals seeking to kind of revive that historic success,” Stinziano said.

The study will help guide strategic planning and attract investors and businesses to the Hilltop, according to Stinziano.

The study should take six months to one year to complete.
