Sep 4, 2018

Columbus City Schools has canceled all classes Wednesday due to heat and humidity, as temperatures again threaten to top 90 degrees.

Many Columbus school buildings do not have air conditioning.

The later summer heat wave has hit districts across Ohio. Columbus, the state's largest school district at about 51,000 students, released classes early on Tuesday and twice last week.

Akron Public Schools announced that several of its buildings without air conditioning would be closed Tuesday, with temperatures there expected to hit 92 degrees. Cleveland City Schools closed 18 buildings, and Finneytown Local Schools in southwest Ohio also closed.

Temperatures are supposed to drop again on Thursday.
